STAKE 2 - Open Retriever Field Trial (14 dog) at Checkley Wood, Monday 21st October.

Thank you to Ivor and Nick Beavis for hosting this event.

So well run as usual.  We were fortunate with the weather.  The birds flew well and our guns Kevin Nick Ben and Phil shot brilliantly. This allowed our judges Ms Linda Partridge(A) Mr Graham Bird(A) Ms Helen Goodwin(A) Ms Laura Marsh(B) to run a successful trial allowing handlers to demonstrate some good dog work.  Thank you so much for joining us today.  A special thanks to our Chief Steward Malcolm Awty who made sure all dogs and handlers were in the right place at the right time under the correct judge.  Helped by Fiona and Angela in the gallery. This is a team event so we rely on our helpers and they came out in force.  Thanks go to Cindy, Fiona, Angela, Lisa, Garry, Di, and Paul for coming along to support SGSAs always thanks to Grace and Chris Brown (General Secretary and Treasurer) for being there and for all their preparation behind the scenes.  They do so much to support all the events we run.

Our Judges wereMr Tim Brain, Ms Dawn Scott, Ms Sharon Kitson and Mr Tucker Munday

We began the day with a high duck drive before moving off to a walked up in beet on partridge.  The retrieves and the ground were challenging for many of the dogs and the were only 2 awards at the end of the day.

1st Mr Steve Cullis Luddesdowne Finn of Tagabea

Guns Choice Mr Kevin Butler Turpingreen Holmes

The guns led by Kevin Carty were Phil, Wes and Nick and they shot extremely well taking into account the difficult wet weather conditions and gave us plenty of birds.

Our thanks to all the competitors judges and helpers who turned up despite the amber weather warning.  A special thanks must go to Grace Brown our General Secretary who has fullfilled the role of FT Secretary for many years even though she is a spaniel lady!
